So I'm going to be honest. I'll be taking some time off from writing. My mom passed on May 2nd, and I don't really have the will at this moment to continue with The Unsung Tales. I'm taking some time off, trying to get my mind back to the task.

Until then, please look forward to Book 2 of The Unsung Tales, working title "Falling". Thank you for every kind word.

Be safe, be loved, be good, be kind.

@TiberAisen Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss!

Coming to the realization that, as a male writer, I may be doing women characters wrong. What do you guys think are things I should be improving on in this regard?

TiberAisen

@silailo Also, it's ok. I've been all over the place these last few months, I haven't caught up on your story either. Will need to do so once things calm down around here. Thankfully, I only have 3 more chapters and I'll be done here.

Well, not just female characters the more I think on it. I'm worried about the way I portray both female (Hope and Anna) and LGBTQ (Kiriel and Orna) characters. As a cis-gendered heterosexual male, I want to try not to write characters who are not like me incorrectly. As such, I'd appreciate any feedback as to whether I'm doing too little in a character and making them too cliche or at least not very accurately portrayed in terms of how they might act in a given situation, particularly ladies like Hope and Anna, as you can get bitten for making a girl "too girly" or equally "too manly".

I'm also trying to avoid the "bury your gays" and "LGBTQ characters are evil" tropes while still including such characters to help show the world isn't just populated by generic white bread manly men and demure women clinging to their knees, etc. etc.

I confess I haven’t managed to get caught up with the story, but so far I haven’t seen any issues. Your female characters have depth and don’t seem stereotyped. What were your concerns?

So...With less than 40 chapters posted on RoyalRoad, I'm at over 1800 views with an average of 40+ views per chapter. It's a great feeling to know people can enjoy the work you've put so much work in, definitely recommend RR!

Only thing is not many people leave comments, which apparently happens alot, and for all the views, I don't have alot of actual followers, but that may also just be something that happens alot.

Once I catch up to where I am here, I'll try to post on both sites. I even have the start of the second book in the world. I tried to stop and wait to see if the first even has an audience, but it's something I really need right now.

Anyway, please wait for the next chapter. Not too long now!

Good news: I've moved to RainbowRoad and am now able to post after they confirmed that I started here.
Bad news: I made a few changes to some chapters in an attempt to improve my description work.
Better news: I plan to start another story there after I finish posting all 120-ish chapters of Leur! (at least they're short! ) This will be while I determine if writing Book 2 of Leur is a good decision based on feedback from readers.

Thank you to the few of you who began reading The Unsung Tales here, and I hope to see what you think of the finished product in due time on RainbowRoad!

TiberAisen

@silailo bah, your writing is great stuff! You may want to try posting your original stuff too and see where it goes! I'll probably post chapters concurrently here and on RR

silailo

@TiberAisen Ouch. Well, I hope you can get some good feedback at least. I may stick with Wattpad after all. There's a lot of trash here, so my stuff would fit right in, lol!

@silailo oh, very. I had two followers until after I responded to them, then suddenly I had one and a 2.5 star rating. Still, at least someone is still interested!

Man oh man, just found out that if I hope to publish my story for real (finished writing, just gotta edit and post the remaining 60-ish chapters), I've gotta edit everything copyrighted, whether it's names and titles of deities, items, or even monsters and spells.

Here's hoping I can think of some good replacements! I apologize for any confusion this may cause when changes go into effect!

TiberAisen

@silailo so I've decided to give Royal Road a look. I'm hoping it will be a good choice.
Rispondi

TiberAisen

@silailo yeah, definitely gonna look for a few other sites. My brother recommended Viking, RH, Tor, and others I can't remember the name of. Will definitely let you know if something good comes up!

@TiberAisen Let me know if you find a safer place, lol, I’m interested. I’ve heard of places like Inkitt, Radish, Royal Road… I don’t know much about them, though. And there’s AO3 of course, but they are more fanfic based. I used to post original fic to Fictionpress back in the day, lol.
