Come closer, and let me tell you a story whispered from the edges of the unknown.

A man wakes at two in the morning in a quiet house, the air heavy with stillness. The shadows shift, the cats stir, and something impossible steps into his world. Not with thunder, but with silence. What it brings is not fear, but an invitation—a glimpse at humanity’s frailty and the vastness beyond the stars. This story has been brought to life as an audiobook—a tale of liminal spaces, quiet revelations, and the fragile line between the mundane and the extraordinary.

@donnaf1828 @moodymoosemouse thank you both for taking a look! It really is appreciated. I’ve been trying to pick voices that match the stories more than anything else. I love the one for the narrator at the start but I want to keep him for the intros and outros, kind of like the Cryptkeeper!

And like you say, Vincent was the king of this sort of narration. I’m sure you can find his old BBC radio show on YouTube or the BBC Sounds app. If I find it I’ll let you know!

@MoodyMooseMouse I agree. A bit like Vincent Price. Have you heard of him? He was in all the old scary movies back in the day. Haha

@donnaf1828 I thought the same thing the perfect voice for the style of story.

Come closer, and let me tell you a tale carved from the marrow of nightmares.

A Viking longship drifts upon icy waters, its oarsmen rowing not for glory but for survival. Their foes? Not rival clans, but the restless dead clawing their way back to the living. This story has been brought to life as an audiobook—a chilling journey of iron and bone, of cursed waters and the creeping rot of desperation.

@TransmissionObscura I read & listened to The Visitor & enjoyed both versions. I really like the podcast “the sceptics guide to the universe” and so I was enjoying the theme of the story on many levels. Firstly, of course, cool & creative story telling. I liked how it got you thinking “what if” while at the same time, because I’m a sceptic, (and this may not have been your aim) it got me thinking about the human mind, how strong the imagination is and the tricks it can play when you’re sleep deprived or even in need of something more.
Great stuff, I look forward to listening/reading the next one.
