“Even if I have to be the villain… so be it.”

Something flickered in his dark eyes—gone almost as quickly as it appeared. Not weakness. Not quite regret. Something far more complicated.

          	She couldn’t name it.

But whatever it was, it unsettled her more than his anger ever could.

Because for him, these weren’t mere words meant to frighten her into obedience—into submission. No. This wasn’t just a threat.

          	A promise. Cold. Final.

One he had likely made long before this moment… and one he had no intention of breaking.

          	So, what do you think?

“I can’t allow you to throw away something that belongs to me.”

“I don’t belong to anyone. You don’t get to—”

“You belong to me.” It was more of a command than a statement.

“I do not!” She hissed, venom lacing her voice.

“Nor am I scared of your words. I am not!”

           “Oh?”

           His voice turned quiet—dangerously so.

“But you have nowhere to go. Do you?”

He held her gaze as he continued, “That’s exactly how you belong to me.”

           A pause.

“I have full rights over you.” His words landed cold. “Legally.”

So, how do you like the snippet?

Not paying any heed to her pain, he replied, “Do you even know what a monster feels like?” Cupping her jaws in a brutal grip from one of his hands, he let his words out through his clenched teeth. “Do you even know what they do?” Jerking her face closer to him in the next second, he took her nape in the other hand, fisting her thick mass of hair in it. “Do you know what monsters are really for?” Taking one last predatory step toward her, leaving no space between them, he scoffed. “Tell me, do you?” His voice came out colder.

“No, I won't! Unhand me, right now!” Her force seemed no match for his vigour. Bringing her hand to the back of his hand, she tugged on it, managing to move a little bit of her hair from it. His grip only tightened as he focused her eyes further to look at him without any emotion in his inhuman eyes.

“Pray tell, do you?” He repeated his question to get an answer out of her.

Her face had turned red due to the force he was holding her jaws. Her own jaws set at his audacity.

“If I were the monster you so portrayed me to be, you must not be standing here arguing with me. You could have been bent over the bed where I could have done what a monster is meant to do,” he barely managed to control his temper to whisper in her ear. His short breaths fanned the entirety of the side of her head. As the silence stretched out, they both stood there condemning the other with wide, furious eyes. None wanted to back down from the staredown.

Snippet.

“I will build a world where shadows never touch you, a place free from such vermin as those who threaten to steal your innocence. I'll see to it that they never exist. In this world, your smile will never fade, your eyes will never know sorrow, and your heart will remain pure. I'll protect your happiness from the darkness that surrounds us, even if it means fighting against the world itself. Your light will never be dimmed, and your joy will never be tainted."

Suddenly a sentence crossed his mind when he was in the middle of taking another sip from his glass of Bourbon. Distancing the glass from his lips, he gave out a booming laugh that shook the entire large study room.

“You're like a walking barrier. A walking barrier. Why are you so tall?”

He laughed again when her angel-like voice seemed to have whispered against the shell of his ears.

          “Right. A walking barrier.”

When his laugh subsided, a smile was put on display when remembering her innocent declaration of war on him.

“Huh.” He breathed her name, “Radhika. She bloomed like a single colour in an otherwise colourless world,” he grinned. “You don't know what weapon you have at your beck and call. Yet you are not the one to hate or curve whoever makes you feel upset or sad even.” He had his jaw clenched as he breathed through his nose. “If it's you, I'll listen to everything you'd ever want to say. If there's anything you want, I'll give it to you. If there's a place in the world you'd want to go, I'll take you with me. If you want me to kill, I'll do it for you.”

“Only if you know what you have.”

“Don't let me repeat myself.” At his reply, my body grew tense as I could only watch him. Smiling sweetly at me, which was rather grim, he countered, "I just came here to take you both back safely. Nothing more, little bird."

           “Please... Let us return home.”

“I am taking you home. Our home.”

           Silence.

“Are you going to force us back into those four walls like prisoners, as you did before?”

Thank you for your immense love and support and for being patient with me. I cannot thank you more, my dear readers.
