@Triple-L-Double-F i have never written a horror story before but i think this is how it goes-
            step 1: get your characters beloved by your audience
            step 2: dump in a really terrifying antagonist (try to make them as humanlike as possible without ripping out the elements that make them the monster)
            step 3: now make the audience fear for your character's life
