Why do so many authors slap Boosted Gear onto their OC like it’s the ultimate cheat? It’s honestly not that great. Instead of actually training their own abilities or going for a more consistent and powerful Sacred Gear like True Longinus or Annihilation Maker, they just rely on a temporary steroid boost. Boosted Gear turns its user into a glass cannon—everything revolves around surviving long enough to stack boosts, but in the end, it just makes you dependent on an ability with a major time limit. Long-term, it’s a crutch.
          And can we talk about how boring it is when every fanfic just makes the MC a devil with Boosted Gear? Like, wow, what a unique and groundbreaking idea—selling your soul for power and then spending half the story whining about it. Where are the Kitsune protagonists? The Fallen Angels? Even a well-written human with actual strategy would be more interesting.
          Honestly, even crafting-based protagonists are more engaging than some delusional "Muh human pride" character acting like they can take on gods with sheer arrogance. At least an alchemist, enchanter, or magic researcher would actually contribute something unique to the world. Imagine a protagonist who masters magic through science, creating broken-tier artifacts or alchemical potions that give them an actual edge instead of just screaming BOOSTO every five seconds. A well-trained enchanter could mass-produce game-breaking equipment, while a magic researcher could uncover lost spells and reshape the battlefield with intellect rather than brute force. That’s a hundred times more interesting than a guy who thinks being human automatically makes him superior in a world where literal dragons, gods, and immortal beings exist.
          But no, let’s keep getting fics where some self-insert picks a fight with the supernatural and then cries about how unfair it is. Truly peak writing.
