Okay, I finally watched the trailer, now it's time to share my thoughts.
So. "Jin Chao", right?
I've always been very forgiving of "Cho Chang" because second-generation immigrants in the 1980s often had names that retained old-fashioned cultural characteristics.
But it's 2026 now, and racist jokes are obviously taboo, yet they still chose names that sound like racist jokes about Chinese people? Really?
This story is about fashion, and fashion itself is eternal, yet they chose to depict a "nerdy Asian woman who doesn't care about fashion and doesn't know how to dress" in the story.
Have they ever met any Asians outside of 2BG? Do they even know what Asians look like in America? Have they ever heard Asian Americans introduce themselves?
F**king ridiculous. We have names other than "Ching Chong". More often than not, we choose Western names for ourselves because these damn privileged Westerners simply can't pronounce our real names.
Yes, there are many well-behaved Asians who excel at studying but aren't good at dressing up, and some people's names sound like racist jokes. Human beings are inherently diverse, and I don't deny these characteristics.
But when you want to promote equality and progress, how can you call it equality and progress if you choose to continue telling everyone that we belong to those stereotypes? How can you so casually put words that mock us in her name?
I hate you for ruining my expectations for this movie and the complicated feelings I had about the 2006 story. I loved that movie, and now everything is ruined.

By the way, I'm so glad Simone Ashley is so beautiful in this movie. Hollywood has picked up some respect for South Asians, hopefully they'll show even more respect for people from the East.
