First ride on Juliet... And also the worst fall to date. She was annoyed with other horses around cantering, plus she wouldn't slow down so I was pulling on the reins hard, and before I knew it I was in the air and then on the ground. Fall #5 in three years of riding, but the difference of this one compared to the other four was this time I actually got hurt. Not only did I get hurt, I landed on my head. Fun fun.
A combination of a buck, kick out, and crow hop all at once. And she never even gave me any warning before she bucked me off.
No concussion—clearly as I was capable of driving us home, didn't feel dizzy or sensitive to light, and I could remember the date while my mom was filling out an accident form.
Just shaky and will have a headache tomorrow.
At least she felt sorry. Her head was hung and she was wiggling her lip apologetically. Hopefully she won't do that again anytime soon.
My instructor also said "when you get a new horse, on the first ride, either you or the horse gets hurt. This time it was unfortunately you."
I'm not angry with her; she has only been here three days and hasn't been ridden or gotten to run around. The only annoyance for me is that I gave her calming paste AND lunged her before our ride.
She was great for 95% of the lesson until the end when she bucked me off. And for the record, we were done anyway. I was going to walk her to cool her off and then get off her and take her back so she could eat her alfalfa.
I still love her, and I'm glad she felt sorry, but still. She got a stern talking to afterwards.
Love you Juliet, but bucking your rider off isn't nice in any scenario.
