No that’s literally the definition. Crossover is when you puth pre existing characters from another book/show/movie/etc. into another pre existing story.
Crossover example: superwholock
Self insert: Dean Winchester x reader

It's a Hunter x Hunter and fmab crossover. self insert is when you put yourself in the story or you're playing as a main character
