I just thought this would be important right now
Please read the following~
If a loved one suffers from depression
What you CAN say that helps:
You are not alone in this. I’m here for you.
You may not believe it now, but the way you’re feeling will change.
I may not be able to understand exactly how you feel, but I care about you and want to help.
When you want to give up, tell yourself you will hold on for just one more day, hour, minute—whatever you can manage.
You are important to me. Your life is important to me.
Tell me what I can do now to help you.
Please refrain from saying these~ They don’t help, but probably make the situation worse:
It’s all in your head.
We all go through times like this.
Look on the bright side.
You have so much to live for, why do you want to die?
I can’t do anything about your situation.
Just snap out of it.
What’s wrong with you?
Shouldn’t you be better by now?
What to do in a crisis situation
If you believe your loved one is at an immediate risk for suicide, do NOT leave the person alone.
In the U.S., dial 911 or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK.
Remember, if you need someone to talk to, I’m here! I love all of you guys, and I just want to help.
If you are depressed and you have a loved one, please know if you take your life, your probably going to make everyone that cares about you- everyone you care about, sad and in emotional pain. Not sure if this helps, but know there is someone out there.
Xoxo
