Y'all... I'm tired. I'm sure most of you have been keeping up with the news in some way.
But back to back shootings? For what reason?.....
First Alton Sterling, now Philando Castile. This marks the 559th person killed by the police. Let me start off with Alton. This man was a father, a husband and, most importantly, a civilian in the city. Yes he did commit mistakes in the past, but that doesn't make him less of a human than anyone else! He was just selling CD's outside of a Baton Rouge convenience store. And if the police were to say he was there illegally, soliciting or trespassing, that's false cause the owner allowed him to do so on the premises. They claimed he had a gun, but it was just keys, man. Keys. What harm can someone do with keys? In the sickening video, it was TWO cops literally surrounding him so how in the hell could he pull a 'gun' out? And if the cop felt so threatened, he could've tased him instead of shooting him that many times like an animal. On the news where his wife gave that heart wrenching plea on her husband, their 15 year old son bawled and said he wants his father and that honestly broke my heart, man.
On to Philando... This young man was shot and killed in front of his wife and daughter and it was all caught on Facebook live. He sat there bleeding to death and hopeless and the cop who shot him, STILL HAD HIS GUN DRAWN LIKE HE COULD PUT UP A FIGHT. All Philano was doing is getting his ID, which the cop asked for. Why shoot someone THREE/FOUR times for getting something you asked for?
I'll keep this short. But, this has got to stop. We're legit a little past halfway through 2016 and police have killed 559 people. We all have to stand up and do something about this. It all starts with us, the young people in the community. Love your fellow brothers and sisters, instead of trying to fight or kill all the time. Nothin is serious enough to harm each other, man. Life is way too short. Please.
