the world actually ended the day society decided there was no longer a demand for filler episodes and this is hell .

haven’t been on here for a hot second, but i thought now’s a good time to speak up shortly. stranger things spoilers ahead ig (?)

          — this finale genuinely felt like a slap in the face & an insult to all of us who want to pursue / are pursuing the career of screen-writers. i am still trying to comprehend how four episodes of the franchise managed to murder BOTH the supernatural element & universally beloved characters with such visceral assassinations that they're almost unrecognizable by the time credits roll & bowie's heroes starts playing. i will not go into heavy detailing because i presume my issues with this season alone go beyond a 20-30 page essay. alas, i will say that i'm throughly astounded by the mere fact that this show that advertised itself as a diegetic world that 'shelters freaks, & gives voice to the marginalized' managed to wrap up some of the most damaging narratives & implications to aforementioned communities in one big pile of mush—with a goddamn bow on top.

wondertwins BOTH truly deserved better. happy new year!

another day another american author who arrogantly uses an existing language that is sTILL spoken in this day and age as a mythical/magic language in their books.

without research. constantly mispronouncing words & never giving proper credit nor a nod of respect toward the culture from which they take & take. but it’s a language they speak in europe so it must not exist; since it’s not near you it’s none of your concern.

a minoritised language is just spice in their romantasy. dpmo.

@crulevi there are plenty of books who use words, phrases & cultures (mostly european, bcs it’s the easiest to get away with, i assume) inaccurately…if i mentioned by name, i’d also have to list you an example of misuse. the most major, distinghuisable one is the ‘fourth wing’ series by rebecca yaros. the entire thing is just filled with misspellings & improper usage. the author herself went on to mispronounce words etc…if you ever find yourself wanting to read a romantasy/modern fantasy book, a quick google search on whether or not it’s reflecting an actual culture wouldn’t hurt, just to make sure it’s not blatantly ignorant.
