I had very little interest in writing and reading when I was little (in fact I was much more of a drawing kid) and I only began writing when I was 14/15. My first story was really short and had chapters that were only 400-words-long. I didn't know how to do character development and I didn't improve at all the world they were living in. But, as time went by, I started reading other stories, talking to other writers and they told me about their own writing process and their experiences and I realized that I had it all in me, I just needed to be patient and let it come. Don't EVER rush your writing, else you're just not getting it. Take Noble Cause (one of my stories) for instance, I started writing it in 2019 and finished it this May (2022), because I'd get the idea of some episodes, I'd write them, then I'd just get nothing for months, but it'd eventually come to me. So no, it's not something you're born with, it's something that definitely needs polishing.
