7 years ago I posted my first story on Wattpad: Hunger. I had to fight for so long to get anyone to care about or read it. It seemed like everyone back then was more interested in “The Bad Boy Kidnapped My Chihuahua” or whatever the hell flavor of the month story was popular. To say it was discouraging is a total understatement.
Day after day I hit the message boards advertising my work, hoping to gain readers. I delighted in every singe view. A vote or a comment was like gold (still is!). Today, Hunger reached 100,000 views.
If you feel like your story isn’t being noticed, keep working. Network, advertise, read for read, join book clubs, and guess what? It still might take 7 years, but if you believe in your story and know it needs to be told, keep writing! Thank you all SO MUCH for making Hunger what it is today. I love you all and still delight in every view, vote and comment with that happy butterflies-in-stomach feeling.
Writing has always been my outlet and, two kids later, I don’t have the time for it that I once did, but I know I will always keep at it because it feeds my soul and releases the darkness inside me. Thank you all for reading! And happy New Year! :)
