Just a question for my lovely readers here-

When it comes to relationships, do you think it’s better to be with someone who mirrors your personality and emotional habits, or someone who complements you by bringing in the qualities you naturally lack?

I’ve been thinking about how much similarity really matters in a partnership.

For example, I personally struggle with staying in touch and maintaining consistent communication, even with people I care deeply about. It’s not a lack of love or interest- just the way I’m wired.

So it makes me wonder: would it be healthier for me to be with someone who understands this because they’re the same way, or with someone who is naturally more attentive, someone who checks in often and values regular contact?

If I were to choose the latter, would that difference help me grow and find balance- or would it eventually create tension?

Would that person feel neglected or unimportant because my way of expressing care doesn’t always show up through frequent communication?

More broadly, do opposing traits in a relationship tend to clash, causing misunderstandings and unmet expectations? Or can two people with different strengths actually balance each other out, filling in the gaps and creating something stronger together?

I have never dated anyone. It's not even a personal question. I just wanted to know from someone who has actually dated. What you guys actually want when it comes to be in a relationship?

@VelvetTae_Jin Good luck on your dating adventure! It shouldn't be gloomy. When you meet the right person it will be worth it. Being in love is the best feeling in the world. just make sure to look out for red flags. A lot of people tend to put them aside and wonder what happened to the person they love when he starts acting up. People don't change so whatever you see is what you are going to get forever. Being in a relationship is not easy but it shouldn't be difficult either. If you find yourself being in a difficult situation then he is not the one. It is ok to be selective and be single than to be miserable with the wrong person.

@taejinlovr99 Now that I read your opinion, I think you're right. For a short period while it looks fun, but for the long run, it's best to have someone who matches your personality and emotional availability. And you're right about introvert extrovert thing. Being with a big extrovert can be tiring. Specially if the introvert in question isn't secretly looking for such energy. Sometimes introverts craves for extrovert energy too. But not for me. Even if I think about going out and having fun, I find it socially draining even thinking about it. So I like to keep it to myself even in a fun high energy place. Aish this conversation is turning too much gloomy for me. Thank you for your time though... You're the best❤️❤️
