Ok, ok, here me out. A story where the protagonist finds themself in a predicament, and it's in the third person. Seems normal, right? Wrong. Wrong because the protagonist is actually fully aware of the narrator's existence, but the protagonist isn't a separate physical character, and it's not like the main protagonist's consciousness either. At first it seems like the narrator is trying to do good for the protagonist, but then they turn against the protagonist, making them the true antagonist of the story.
I don't know if a story has been written like this before, but it sounds interesting.
