The Vimy Foundation is a charitable foundation whose mission is to preserve and promote Canada's First World War legacy, best symbolized with the victory at Vimy Ridge in April 1917. This momentous event is widely regarded as a defining moment in our history, where Canada first stepped forward onto the world stage.

Vimy Ridge has remained a key part of our national understanding as a country because many of today's core Canadian values were on display for the first time, collectively, at Vimy and were clearly a contributing factor to the battle's success: leadership, teamwork and innovation.

At the Vimy Foundation we are dedicated to creating opportunities for all Canadians to learn about this legacy. This is why we develop education programs to help youth learn more about the sacrifices made by an entire generation 100 years ago -a time when Canada came of age and was recognized on the world stage.

Vimy centennial coincides with the 150th birthday of Canada and will also be a time of celebration. The 100th anniversary of Vimy, falling as it does in 2017, will be one of the most highly recognized milestones for Canada that year. The 2017 Campaign provides an opportunity to remember the legacy of Vimy Ridge, to spread awareness of Canada's coming-of-age on the global stage, and to celebrate our identity and pride to be Canadian.
