I was just let out of class with two other students and entered the elevator. We are on the 3rd floor.Right when the third person walks in, the elevator stars to lower a foot without closing the doors. At this point we just thought the elevator was a little faulty and didn’t think too much about it. That was until we suddenly jerked and dropped from what I can assume is 2 feet. I’m panicking a bit because I’m worried about my baby. I’m 2 months pregnant and I’m ultimately scared of having a miscarriage if I get hurt in some way during this. After the elevator jerked, it seems like it was stuck and not moving. One of the other students isn’t afraid of this whole predicament and starts to joke and jump up and down to make the room bounce. We are both yelling at him to stop when we heard a cable above us snap. We drop another foot, but a lot faster than the last, and we can hear the stressed wires struggling to hold our weight as we scramble to get to our feet and hold onto the rails on the wall. We hold still and look at each other, staring with pleadings and terrified eyes to one another, as we prayed that we be saved before we fall. That was until we heard a sickening snap. We are falling and holding onto the railings as if it would protect us from the oncoming doom that awaits for us. I remember thinking, “we are on the third floor, so the fall won’t be that great.” As I look to the dash of buttons, im hit with a sudden dread as I see that there is a basement and subbasement . We are going to fall 5 stories. I panic and hold on tight to the rails as I hear my pears scream in terror as I watch the hand on the elevator slide down quickly past 2, 1, B, and then finally we hit B2. I can feel the jolt of pain in my legs as I feel we hit the ground. I fall over in pain as my arms feel like they have been torn out of their sockets from holding onto the rail. I feel broken as I look up in time to see the ceiling fold on top of us. I thin“im sorry” as everything goes black.
