Not sure about you, but I think the better mindset is that you shouldn't write for other people, just write for yourself. For example, I still write Legends:Darkbloom despite balancing it with another book, multiple drawings, and creating a video, not because I expect them to gather attention and do well, but instead because I like doing it. I think what'd be beneficial is have a friend or two edit your stories for you, and have them give you their thoughts and opinions after each chapter, that way you still get the gratification you might be looking for.
