Thanks for the comments.
I was Peace Corps in 1964. With an impending event in the form of Liberia’s Civil War, I have the protagonist and antagonist, who can’t get along until they fall in love and marry. On Wattpad, readers’ interest in next chapters diminishes after that. Readers are not following so much later when their child is born on the eve that brutal war breaks out and the main female character is mortally wounded. Selling this to an agent may mean bringing the war and conflict resolution between the main characters seem closer together. The child is indispensable to the story.
My son told me that my Armageddon story is too ridiculous. He used my portrayal of the Biblical Barabbas there as an example. “He’s the nicest terrorist you’d ever want to meet.”
Age makes it easier to look at something I have written and with no loss to my ego to say that it sucks. It may or may not be possible to reverse its fatal flaws.
I wish you the best in your writing.
