          Reading a fic that has started incorporating codes, and I happen to love codes so much they were like my entire personality at one point. BUT THESE CODES HAPPEN TO BE SO FUCKING STUPID.
          
          First one I figure out was a vigenere, I tried all sorts of words for the key but got nothing. THE KEY WAS THE WORD KEY!! How are you supposed to guess that??? The person who solved it only did because the decoding website they used has key as the default keyword.
          
          Second one was said to be two different ciphers combined with the only hint being that neither ciphers were a vigenere.. DO YOU KNOW HOW LITTLE THAT NARROWS IT DOWN?! HOW MANY CIPHERS AND COMBINATIONS OF THEM ARE OUT THERE??? This is a random fanfic, not a gigantic ARG where a community can easily come together to solve any code in minutes!! It was a fucking miracle it was solved with 12 hours-
          
          Don’t get me wrong, the fic is really good and interesting, but I can’t get my mind off such frustrating codes! Especially since they are one of my biggest interests, I can’t just sit there ignoring what feels like the author’s first attempt at creating a puzzle!
          Anyways that my long ass rant about ciphers probably nobody will care about, so thank you if you did read this all lmao
