His name is an unsubtle pull from To Kill a Mockingbird, but I took heavy inspiration from the dynamic between spider Man and green goblin, with atticus being the unstable goblin in this scenario and tempest being spider man (who I initially intended to make the male lead). When I decided that making the villain the male lead had more potential, I had to find a reason for his madness and villainy that was compelling enough to make choosing him over tempest realistic. From there, I took inspiration from Rogue in the X-men for his powers but pushed the consequences a little further than simply gaining her victims memories. I knew early on that madness and pain would essentially make him addicted to the cure when he found it, but because he was generally a good guy who once had aspirations of being a hero that would make him conflicted from guilt over using Lily after he regained enough of his right mind to realize what he was doing. Personality-wise, I wanted him mellow to contrast Tempest’s traditional superhero excessive optimism, but also terribly lonely from being forced into a fish out of water situation. I can’t say I had any character particularly in mind for his personality, but Howl from Howl’s moving castle comes to mind as a template for someone with an excessively calm personality (mostly) that I like, and also cardan’s humor from The Cruel Prince .
I’m glad you liked it! Hearing that people enjoyed the story always makes my whole week
