Silk is an organic material generated by silkworms, the larval stage of silk-producing insects such as the domesticated silkmoth (Bombyx mori). Initially, the caterpillars weave cocoon fibers composed of protein. Subsequently, these fibers undergo collection and refinement to craft the opulent textile recognized as silk.
