What if wings graced our shoulders,
ferrying us through the sky,
making us bolder?
What if we could fly?
Unrestrained by chains,
we could soar free.
We could glide over every domain...
But no, it is not to be.
Our wings have been clipped
To be hung on the wall in an diamond case.
Our liberty shredded and stripped
Ever a reminder of our incarcerated state
Our captors jeer at our dejection and grief
They delight in the torment of our souls
They revel in our bondage and offer no relief
They relish in the futility of our flight from their holes
Lost without a rescue,
forlorn, we know we have no chance;
with no way to seek refuge...
no one will ever spare a glance.
In their grotesque grasp we remain for ages,
forever snared in their corrupt cages.
Never to see the light...
Never to take flight...
