Once, there was a girl in the woods.
She sung and span, twirled and laughed,
A happy girl.
She twirled too much one day,
Sung too loudly,
It drew in the paws of the wolf.
He was curious about the noise,
And followed after her dancing feet.
Twirl, twirl, twirl she goes,
Twirling through the trees.
Snap!
She spun,
Whatever could that be?
She peered left, and she peered right,
Not looking up at the darkness above
Finding nothing peculiar,
The girl shrugged her small shoulders,
And continued to dance,
A little sound won't scare her away.
Swaying and twirling, her feet refused to stay still.
She laughed, a joyous sound that was misplaced in the dark of the woods.
The wolf looked down from its perch,
Head tilted curiously towards her.
It got up when she laughed,
It came forward,
And it pounced.
A scream!
A scream erupted from her small throat,
Her eyes wide from the unexpected weight.
The wolf, also startled, emitted a growl, as deep and dark as the woods around them.
After staying still, they both soon became quiet.
The wolf nuzzled her,
Wanting her to sing.
The wolf has been alone for a while,
she brought sound to his quiet, lonely life.
After a few moments, the girl began to speak.
She stroked its furr,
He nuzzled her.
Atlas, a friendship was formed.
He kept her company throughout the woods,
And she danced and sung with a friend.
Never alone again.
