I've been making up stories since I could form sentences. Before I learned to write, I would dictate these stories to my always-patient mother and grandmother to write down.
I have a B.A. in English, focusing on the Romantics; I especially love Dark Romanticism. I have eclectic taste in literature and will happily read anything from ancient religious texts to comic books. My favorite genres of fiction (besides the aforementioned Romanticism) are Southern Gothicism, horror, psychological thrillers, and hardboiled/pulp. My favorite nonfiction subjects are true crime, seafaring and shipwrecks, exploration (especially polar exploration), aerospace and engineering, and psychology. I also am a big fan of humor, particularly dark humor.
Some of my biggest inspirations and influences are William Blake, Samuel Coleridge, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Cormac McCarthy, Tim Dorsey, Flannery O'Connor, Gillian Flynn, and Tana French.
I work as a technical writer and editor. I love my job, but I also need a creative outlet, so I write fiction and the occasional poem.
