Posted this on my tumblr, but this is too good not to share here, too. For those of you who haven't watched the video of Sanders Sides, watch it!
So, we know that Roman and Remus are "brothers" as Thomas referred to them as such. Now, I have a lil' theory:
Roman and Remus are names from the legend of how Rome was built. Roman and Remus were twins who hated each other’s gut and had a fight on who the new city will be named after. They dueled and the one who survived will get to name the city after themselves.
GUESS WHO WON!
Roman won! That’s why the name is Rome.
If Remus had won, the city would have been named Remé.
It kind of makes sense, because Thomas openly chooses Roman to have control, to have the upper hand while he repressed Remus. My interpretation of this would be that Roman could name the city, which (I might be reading too much into this) is the concept of handle on creativity. On the other hand, Remus just dies. And while Remus didn’t die in the canon version, it is symbolic in the end card that he has little to no control over Thomas anymore.
