Confession time: I spent an embarrassingly long time wondering why I always got story update notifications on Sunday.
Every week, I'd wake up on Sunday and—boom—new chapters. But on Saturday? Nothing. I'd check the update schedule again and think, "It literally says Saturday. Where are the chapters?"
Now, before you continue reading, please be aware that I am apparently not very intelligent.
The schedule said "PST," and somehow my brain decided that meant something related to "PM." Don't ask me how. I genuinely have no explanation.
So every Saturday I'd wait for the update. Saturday evening? Nothing. Saturday night? Nothing. I'd keep checking, convinced the chapter would appear before midnight.
Then I'd go to sleep.
And on Sunday morning, there it was.
Every. Single. Time.
At first, I thought maybe the author was posting late. But after seeing this happen week after week, I got curious and finally looked up what PST actually meant.
Turns out it stands for Pacific Standard Time.
And that was the moment I discovered that time zones are, in fact, real.
For the longest time, I thought, "Wattpad is a global app. Why would it take 12 hours for a notification to reach me?"
The answer, of course, is that it doesn't.
The notification arrives just fine. The problem is that while I'm sitting here on Saturday waiting for an update, it can still be Friday where the author lives. And when it's Sunday morning for me, it's often still Saturday for them—which is exactly when they posted the chapter.
So after weeks of confusion, overthinking, and completely misunderstanding how time works, I finally solved the mystery.
The chapters were never late.
I was just losing a battle against the Earth's rotation.
