I had a rural existence growing up in Maysville, Georgia. To get to the nearby Gainesville City School System, where I went K-12, my family commuted through cow pastures every day.
Writing is what I am hoping to make a career out of. I have over twenty articles in publications including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlantic Media, The Gainesville Times, The China/US Perception Monitor, and the Crimson. When my first article went viral and started a conversation about Harvard's mental health that spread well beyond the campus walls, I learned to appreciate the power and responsibility that writers have. I've written two manuscripts: a 300-page novel and a 110-page senior honors thesis, both of which I'm currently revising and expanding with plans to publish.
Right now is a gap period in my life (as it is for many people). My goal during this Covid Season of ours is to make meaningful strides towards building my writing career. One of the ways I am doing this is to rewrite my novel, Psalms of a Shattered Mind. While I have a 350 page manuscript, I have yet to release it to the public aside from about ~30 beta readers.
As I rewrite my manuscript, however, I have decided to put the chapters that I have rewritten online. There are a variety of motivations causing me to do this: the thrill of having an audience for my work, the frustration with myself for keeping my work as a desktop Word Document, the external motivation to not give up on my rewrites, and the desire to have a proven reader base once I (eventually) try to get my novel published.
I hope you enjoy my work. Thanks for reading.
