I rarely make announcements and posts, I am just completely horrible at keeping up with social media, that's my bad. I read your comments guys, they make me laugh, smile, and overall happy that so many people are still engaged with my books! I get offended very rarely. You'd be surprised. However I have a few things to say as an author. I am not blind to what fanfictions are. I know that people like to imagine themselves as the main characters or whatever books they are reading, I have done it a number of times myself! I wondered what it would be like to be Elizabeth Bennett! I totally get it. But I never imagined myself instead of Elizabeth Bennett, because just getting rid of a character Jane Austen worked on like that is not how I vibe (I am not judging if you do though). My book is not an Y/N and for good reason. Personally, I am not the biggest fan of Y/N. They're messy and it's tricky to put the plot together without fluff or smut in Y/Ns (I also know that's probably why people like reading them so much). I tried to create a character who is relatable and unique. I've given her a backstory, a personality. I put a lot of effort into her. However, I have also left her ambiguous, so that readers can imagine themselves as her, so that they can put themselves in her situations. On that note, reading comments such as "y/n is much better" offend me as an author. I would kindly urge you to go read a y/n fanfiction then, if that is what you're looking for. With that said, I absolutely have no problem with people imagining themselves as my character or pretending that they are her, that's the whole fun of reading a fanfiction isn't it? What I have a problem with is such blatant disregard for the original character and for me as an author, someone who put time and effort into this character. I am sure most of you picture yourselves as Angelina, and I love that, that's totally fine, but "y/n is better?" Sis. Let's not do that here
