I'm going to rewrite Here There Be Monsters, and I already have some ideas of how I'm going to go about it. But before I fully commit to this thing, I wanted to hear from everyone first. What would you want to see be changed in the rewrite? More characters, fewer characters? Personality changes? Plot changes? Pacing? Anything that comes to mind, let me know and I'll consider it.

@ WritingRainy if you rewrite it , i think all elements of the story is pretty nice (the back and forth timeline is cool af ). I think you should add more details of the main character'life that all.

It has come to my attention that the greatest enemy of modern aspiring writers everywhere, the destroyer of creativity, and the thing that most contributes to writers block, is the backspace key. Do not use your backspace key when you're writing. Go back and edit later. The hardest part of writing, at least for me, is getting words on paper (or Google doc). If you can get through that first step, you'll be fine. But getting in the bad habit of editing as you write, deleting and rewriting sentences over and over, hoping for it to be perfect, that will ruin you as a writer. Form good habits while you're still learning and it will save you years of struggle. Stop deleting your work. Every word you write is just fine as it is.

            THIS

SO MANY PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THIS

THIS IS ALSO WHY MIRAE WALKERS IS TERRIBLE RIGHT NOW

Harper and I know that it sucks, which is why the version we have published is the first draft. we know it sucks, and we know that we hate it, but it still exists because we need it to improve. Never delete a version of ANYTHING. A few years ago, I got into writing fanfiction (when literally everything I wrote was garbage) but I never deleted a document. I just created a new one, labeling it [Title of story, version X] as my writing skills got better.

Never delete anything, because you'll be able to look back and a) see where you originally wanted to go with the story if you get stuck, b) refer back to original canonized concepts, or c) evolve from what you were originally at.

            It's painful, I know, but it's helpful.

In the chapters following the most recent one, just letting you guys now know about a few things. I will pull no punches. No characters are safe, especially your favorites. There will be death, blood, and gore. If I do my job right, it will be difficult to read for most. Do with that information what you will.

And on that cheery note, I'll be posting a short story in the next few hours that is completely different from anything you've seen me write so far so look forward to that.
