It's been a while since we've heard a cluck from our chicken friends, but I'm pleased to announce I have received a new chicken story for my anthology 99 Stories About Chickens. Murder, Mayhem, and Miracles by cehaskell68 is a story that is both heartbreaking and hopeful. (See link in comments)

If you would like to contribute a chicken-themed story, submissions are always open and I'd love to add it to the collection. Just get in touch with me and let me know.

I've been trying to post an announcement on here for two days, and it refuses to post. Will this one post? Does Wattpad not want me to announce stuff?

@Wuckster -- Please put in a ticket. IT needs to see where the problem is with all of these notifications disappearing across the app.

@Dr_Zeuss This is getting highly irritating. The announcement I actually want to make still won't post, while the test one I didn't care about actually did post. Maybe it doesn't like the way I phrased my other announcement. I guess I'll try rewriting it and see if it works?

I just learned that my ONC story Multitude Adjustment has made the shortlist! While it felt like it took a long time for them to announce ONC-related news this year, I'm also impressed that the judges are able to read all of these entries at all. I'm sure it must be hard to make decisions as there must be many wonderful stories that don't make the cut for whatever reason. I don't know what criteria they use to decide, but I'm honored they selected my weird little story. Congrats to all who participated and finished writing a novella! I know it takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and in the end, having a completed work you're proud of is the real prize.

It was a fairly exciting Wattpad day for me. First I logged on to see that my ONC story Multitude Adjustment has officially made the longlist. It's been a while since there's been any updates on this, so I'd kind of forgotten about it, or at least had it in the backburner of my mind. Anyway, that was cool to learn.

I've also decided to join in on the flabbergasting flash-fic smackdown and I posted my qualifying entry today, a speculative fiction story of no more than 600 words and inspired by a kind of freaky looking picture. If you're interested you can check it out here: https://www.wattpad.com/1640211139-the-flabbergasting-flash-fic-smackdown-the-x-ray

Additionally there's still time to join the smackdown if you're interested. I've done several of them now and they're always pretty fun, and get the creative juices rolling. You also get to read a lot of cool stories by other writers based on the same prompts. It's always interesting to see what people come up with and how different the stories are even when having the same starting points. Anyway, if you want to join the fun you can do so here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/412353130-the-flabbergasting-flash-fic-smackdown

Okay, I did it! I just posted the last chapter of my ONC story Multitude Adjustment plus an author's note. I marked it complete and I submitted it for round 3. Good luck to everyone participating this year. Get those stories done and submitted and may the judges look kindly upon your works!

Just posted chapter 13 of my ONC story Multitude Adjustment. I'm cutting things close to the deadline here, but I'm pretty much right at the 20,000 word count as of this chapter and it looks like I should be wrapping everything up in the next chapter. I think I'm going to go work on that right now.

Wuckster

@wdhenning I've always felt that deadlines are actually good for me. Yes, they can raise the stress level, but they help me to stop procrastinating and get things done!

@Wolfwhistle Thanks! I'm putting the final touches on things right now, so it looks like I'm going to make it!

Okay, I managed to get another chapter posted on my ONC story Multitude Adjustment. I'm pretty sure I can see the path to the end, now I just have to make sure I can get there with the proper word count. I passed 15,000 words, so a little under 5000 to go. It seems doable.
