Random Headcannon:
Newt having a bad hair day and uses one of those straw baskets as a hat and wears that around the Glade all day and he doesn’t stop wearing it until Minho forcefully pulls it off his head revealing his mess of a hair. And then Minho would sit him down and try to fix his hair and it would just end up with him “braiding” Newt’s hair out of boredom
