I came upon a passive pond
whom shamelessly displayed
her artistry for painting
nature into her own surface.
I reached into her still
reflection with cupped
hands and pulled out a
flawless replica of sun.
For but a moment, I was god,
and I held creation
beyond my capabilities. The
reality of my limitations,
however, were made clear as
the pond called for her
waters and she trickled
trough my fingers to
return home. The sun
was never mine to hold. The pond
was never mine to control….
But the water and light both
live within me.
