I hope you get through all the bad times that the year shoves at you, and I hope everything works out in the end.

          2025 held a lot, for sure. And I can't wait to see what 2026 has in store—hopefully it'll be great, and hopefully you can be walking through it with me the whole way.

          With the new year approaching, this is especially important. You cannot let the past stop you, drag you down.
          
          There is a whole future waiting. It holds so many chances for you in its palms, waiting to hand them to you, waiting for you to meet it. The future holds troubles and struggles you may be afraid of facing, but it also holds opportunities. 
          
          As the new year comes, the future will approach. You may not be ready to let go of the past, you might want to cling to the present—but you can't. I'm here right now, a week early, I know, to tell you...
          
          It's time. 
          
          The present will become the past, and you will have to let the farther past get farther. The future is arriving.

          Don't get stuck expecting things to happen. Whether positively or negatively, it doesn't actually help. 
          
          You can't let yourself be stuck in expecting people to be kind, expecting someone else to do the right thing, expecting someone to help you. Sometimes it's YOU who needs to be that person. Sometimes you need to be the one to put your foot down and step forward, help yourself or find someone to help you. 
          
          And don't let yourself start to expect rudeness, don't learn to expect abuse or negativity. You don't deserve cruelty, no one does. If your expect bad things, it'll be harder to dodge and push through. 
          
          This might sound harsh, but you must accept that sometimes you will need to be your own crutch. Accept that there are bad things, naivety isn't the answer. Accept that you need to be what you want to see sometimes. 
          
          If anything, at least accept kindness. Never shut it out, always accept help and love from people. Always help and love people. I think out of it all, that is the most important—aside from accepting that you can only be so much, and you don't need to live up to everything you might set for yourself.

While I'm celebrating the 400 of you lot, I have a question! I have an alt account! On it there are two (?) oneshots that are related to Tangbee. I haven't put them here because they are Shippy oneshots (ranchers and flower court). I thought, since everything else I've written is platonic, it might be negatively received? But...

          Let's think of all the things in nature that go through changes, transformations. Butterflies, Moths, flowers—frogs! 
          
          A butterfly starts as a caterpillar, and once it's eaten enough, once it's ready, it forms a chrysalis. Then it becomes a butterfly. Simple and easy, right?
          
          But there is a time in between. Inside the chrysalis, when the caterpillar is undergoing this change. The time when a flower is no longer a bud, but hasn't quite bloomed, the stage when a tadpole is not a frog yet, but not a tadpole anymore. 
          
          In nature, there is time in between transitions. It is the same for humans, for you. 
          
          If you're leaving behind your old self, your new self won't be a single step forward. You still need to sit in your own chrysalis. And it feels awful, because suddenly you can't wait and your uncomfortable in your own skin and you're unsure about yourself again. 
          
          It's okay. Give it time. If something bad has just hit, you need time to heal before it's good again. If you're changing, you need time to adjust. "New" isn't instantaneous. Unfortunately. 
          
          But the other side is always worth the wait. Isn't it?

          When you're falling down, there is always a bottom, and there is always a way up. When it's dark, there are always torches and stars to find. When you feel trapped, run your fingers along the walls—I promise you there's a door out somewhere. 
          
          Bad things will happen, as surely as the moon rising. But they will end, just as the sun brightens up the night. 
          
          Just don't give up. If you stay too long with your head down and your legs trapped in sludge, you might miss the sun's first try, or you might forget the door. 
          
          Keep on trying. Keeping on searching. Keep your head up. Keep your legs moving. Never stop trying.
          
          And then we can watch the sunrise together. I think they're especially beautiful after a long night, once you step outside the doors.
