As an individual, I seldom use this board to post my opinions and feelings. This night, however, I'm letting my feelings out because of one reason: Fromis_9 has decided not to renew their contract with Pledis, hence leaving HYBE altogether.
Even though it grieves me greatly since Fromis_9 is one of my main groups (the other one being IZ*ONE), I somehow anticipated this outcome as a Flover.
Come to think of it, I got worried ever since Megan commented that she wants to receive her pay by the end of the year last time.
Moreover, even though Supersonic became popular, it wasn't up to par with Stay this Way, the last song they had with Gyuri. And lastly, the younger groups in HYBE umbrella have been thriving compared to them, so it's understandable that they will part ways.
For a company that also has Seventeen as a powerhouse and TWS starting to get attention, it's clear as day that they're not doing well compared to the two groups. In my opinion, I think they just decided to face that sad reality as a whole group, which is both brave and commendable, rather than trying to hold on to an uncertain future. Flover might be a consistent fandom, but companies like Pledis will always prefer an increasing revenue over fandom loyalty, and I'm pretty sure that the group knows that.
I know that such things are inevitable and I can only support them in their individual endeavors after this but still, as a fan, it hurts so much. Disbandment and contract terminations/expirations really suck.
Anyway, they might have been Fromis_9 as of today, but they will always be precious in my heart no matter what happens. If I'm with them right now, I will say this in front of them all:
"Thank you so much for being my strength and emotional support through all these years. Thank you so much for all the songs you gave and performed for us Flovers. I will never forget you all."
Thanks for reading my rants. This is the author speaking. Over and out.
