@YouWithTheDarkCurls yes!!! like i'm pakehā as well (pretty sure i'm just white, idk) and i think a lot of te ao and te reo are really interesting, and yk good to know and learn, and it pmo how so many people are all "no, i won't pronounce that properly, i'm white. i don't need to." because it's still an official language of our country, and still something that should be respected? people could at least try to pronounce some things right, because it really is not hard to pronounce "wh" or change the a's, e's and o's when those are all sounds we already use.
            
            i like being able to do haka and waiata, pronounce things right, use a lot of te reo māori, and learn a lot of te ao māori, because it's honestly really cool

@proud_bi_kiwi I know!!! It's so stupid when people undermine Māori culture. Like I was getting taught Abt the treaty of waitangi at school and the two different versions and how the māori version and the English version were different and I went home and talked Abt what I learned and my parents literally started attacking māori culture, the education system and me. They literally started saying Abt how the 'maori stole the land from the moriori' like no??? 
            
            I'm pakeha and I really want to learn about this type of stuff but it's annoying when my whole family believes the opposite and makes me think I'm being tricked.

@YouWithTheDarkCurls fr, like it's literally a māori name- it's not an english name so it should be pronounced taupō not taopo, and there's no reason to get offended when it is literally the CORRECT pronunciation. 
            this kind of stuff pisses me off so much oh my god. 
            
            also when people are very persistent that we shouldn't give towns back their original te reo māori names. I LITERALLY JUST SAID THAT I LIKE THE NAME ŌTAUTAHI BETTER THAN CHRISTCHURCH BECAUSE IT SOUNDS BETTER, AND I GOT ATTACKED- like people were saying that calling it ōtautahi christchurch is forcing māori culture onto us- HAVE THEY LOOKED AT THE NAME CHRISTCHURCH? CHRIST. CHURCH. THAT'S PROBABLY THE MOST CHRISTIAN NAME OUT THERE

@proud_bi_kiwi luckyyy, my dad has this one podcast he listens to and everyday I wake up and hear some racist shit, or some homophobic/transphobic shit.

@YouWithTheDarkCurls my parents didn't vote for him/act (or national/luxon, thank god) but oh my god it's crazy that men like him are right up there in charge of our country. and he's gonna be deputy in may?? like?? at this point, i don't really like paying attention to a lot of our political news because i really don't care, they're all just racist old men, who are also misogynistic, transphobic, and probably homophobic. i was doing the current events quiz today at school, and my teacher said she turns the tv off whenever she sees his face
