We say, "In Jesus' Name", but sometimes we're actually trying to manipulate God.
There is a dangerous difference between praying in Jesus' name and using Jesus' name as if it were a magic formula.
Many of us end our prayers with, "In Jesus' Name, amen."
But sometimes what we really mean is,
"Lord, You have to do this because I prayed and I said the right words."
Pero hindi ganoon ang ibig sabihin ni Jesus.
To pray in Jesus' name is not to force heaven to approve our plans. It is to come before the Father representing the heart, character, and will of Christ.
Hindi ito tungkol sa paggamit ng pangalan ni Jesus para kontrolin ang Kanyang mga sagot sa prayers natin.
It's about surrendering our desires to what Jesus desires.
Sometimes our prayers sound more like demands than dependence. Then we add, "In Jesus' Name."
As if those three words obligate God.
But God is not manipulated by our wording.
He looks at our hearts.
Jesus never taught us to use His name to control God. He taught us to trust the Father.
Remember Jesus Himself in the Garden of Gethsemane.
He prayed with complete honesty,
"Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will."
If anyone had the right to demand an answer, it was Jesus. Yet He chose surrender over control.
That's what praying in His name looks like.
Faith is not manipulating God into saying "yes."
Faith is trusting Him even when His answer is "wait," "no," or "I have something better."
The greatest purpose of prayer is not to change God's mind. It is to let God change ours.
Because Jesus' name is not a tool to manipulate God. It is an invitation to surrender to Him.
