I first started writing novel-length manuscripts as a teenager with a lot of angst and not much more than instinct to guide me. Over the course of several years, studying the work of masters and meeting several that were more than willing to offer advice, I honed what skills I have and finished my first novel. It was published in 2007 and I rapidly followed with a sequel, published in 2010. The series, "The Legacy of Power" has absolutely nothing to do with the Power Rangers and I only discovered the unfortunate title choice much later (when there was nothing I could do about it).
I truly enjoy writing stories that dive into the psyche and show exactly how human even our greatest heroes can be. After all, we enjoy Tony Stark because he has more weaknesses than many of the other Avengers, but he overcomes them categorically. We only truly began to enjoy Superman when he became more flawed, more brutal, more internally conflicted - and still did "the right thing" most of the time. We love Batman because he truly is a "bad guy", but only to even worse "bad guys". And I think this is a critical part of what makes a story believable and something that we can identify with.
Many of my strongest fans and supporters are shocked at the brutality (usually more psychological than physical) I throw at my main characters or even my most beloved supporting characters and I'm regularly confronted with a fan's tear-streaked face shrieking "Why?! How could you do that to him/her?!" and I'm left pointing a finger at their obvious outward expression of emotion: "Because it made you do that. Because you cared, and now you care even more."

I specialize in medieval/fantasy war epics, often extremely heavily laced with concepts of family, love, honor, and revenge. I enjoy explorations of morality and justice in my writing. But I have dabbled with science fiction as well, and that may find its way into other publications here.

We'll see!
