HIII I hope this isn’t weird but I saw a bunchhh of your comments on the October Flynn story that never got finished :(( im literally spiraling cus it’s been so long and i hope the author’s okay. I don’t even know what to do

hi! ok so this is going to sound really stalkerish so I hope it isn't, J just love a good internet dive :). I was a HUGE fan of october (like it's literally my favorite wattpad book, and i've read thousands of wattpad books), and wanted to see if the author has been active. I saw u have been doing updates for the author, and I just wanted you to know what I've found. I don't know if your familar with teenfic.net, but it's basically a mirror website of wattpad that steals content from wattpad. Obviously this is not cool and is really bad for authors, however there is something VERY interesting that the devs of teenfic did. They have a update 'date', which is the date that the author most recently updated a book, which leads me to my theory. I think teenfic's code sources from the date an author edits/resaves a story, not the date the author uploads a new chapter. This can happen when an author changes something in a chapter, or view's a book they wrote and resaves it instead of exiting. On Wattpad the update 'date' is the most recent chapter uploaded. This means that if an author changes or views a past chapter that date is saved as the update on Teenfic, but does not change the update date on Wattpad. On Teenfic, the most recent update is September 10, 2023 (october), meaning the author viewed October on that date, but did not upload a new chapter. The other update 'dates' are May 15, 2022, meaning the author has not viewed the other stories since May 15th. I'm planning on verifying this theory by creating a spam account and uploading a book and editing a book!!!! I hope this means the author is alive and well, just not updating, especially if they viewed their books on two seperate dates!

@Zeustia1 yup! so the author is alive and well, and is checking the comments and/or the chapters and accidentally “editing” the story. they’ve done this before where they take a long break, so don’t stress!

I love you so much, you’re literally heaven sent. And not it doesn’t sound stalkerish it’s actually really helpful and informative for me bc I love the author of October and wanted to know how they’re doing and stuff . I got a lil confused so I had to reread but I’m understanding so that means the author is at least alive and well or someone else could be checking in for them?? it’s more likely the latter. But again thank you so much, this means a lot for you to go out of your way and do this research and everything and to let me know. Omg also sorry for the late response we’re all the way in august now! And I don’t have Wattpad notifications on, I was doing my check ins that I do once in a while and I was just going through my notifications and saw yours! But again thank you so much, may you forever be blessed <3

after scrolling through reddit, it seems that wattpad had an update that changed this. wattpad now makes you only have a publish button, not a save button. Before their were two options: publish and save. Publish allowed you to change something in a chapter and would notify readers and save allowed you to change something in a chapter but not notify readers. This update happened around Decemberish, and makes it so publish is the only option.

I sat in the same spot for the last 2 hours doing my exams, I had 5 questions left. 5 QUESTIONS!! and then all of a sudden a warning popped and said the files inaccessible click reload and try again....when I reloaded it all my progress and answers were gone. so I just sent the teacher an email and told her I cant access it.
          
          I'm so upset right now its not even funny

          since I cant reply to your comment because that book is now a paid story (when i read it was free but im glad i got to read it before you had to pay for it) and my broke ass doesn't have access to money so ya but like thanks
