ABOUT THE AUTHORS

MARC A. ZIMMER, Ph.D., holds a Doctorate in Psychology and is a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. For over three decades he has been the Director of Biofeedback and Psychotherapy Development in Valley Stream, New York, where he specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and stress-related problems. Both he and his staff provide individual, family, and marital counseling, as well as biofeedback training. Using sophisticated instrumentation, Dr. Zimmer and his staff teach patients safe and painless ways to recognize subtle physiological changes that signal stress, and how to use these techniques to reduce the stress in everyday situations. What is special about Dr. Zimmer’s treatment of eating disorders is his combined psychotherapy and biofeedback program, which is specifically tailored to patients with these problems. Dr. Zimmer is a consultant and lecturer to various organizations, and author of numerous articles in professional and educational journals. Dr. Zimmer is the co-author of "Dying to Be Thin: Understanding and Defeating Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia–A Practical, Lifesaving Guide."

N.R. Mitgang has written for book and magazine publications, the stage, television, and electronic media for the past thirty-five years. His writing credits include: playwright/lyricist, "Bojangles" (The AMAS Repertory Theatre, New York); co-author, "Mr. Bojangles" (Jim Haskins and N.R. Mitgang, William Morrow); writer, "I Knew the Man Bojangles" (WNBC-TV, New York–nominated for an Emmy, Best Director); co-creator/publisher, "Well . . . There You Go Again! The Humor That Shaped America" (N.R. Mitgang and Malcolm Kushner, Mitgang/Kushner Inc.–CD-ROM encyclopedia of President Ronald Reagan). He was an editor for Grosset & Dunlap and Director of Electronic Publishing for Facts On File. Mitgang has also served as a consultant or historical contributor to A&E’s Biography, The Smithsonian Institution, The New York City Archives and, The National Archives.
