What happens when a writer sees one too many Spark/Dove Movies and Episodes of Swamp People? LOL Yup, its happening.
The novel I'm working on takes place in the intercoastal waterways of Georgia. After doing much research, there are little to few movies or books about that deep south that don't end in heartbreak or bittersweet agony...
That is until now. I'm a sucker for a happy ending and a sweet, clean romance. The epilog is done along with the first dozen of chapters. Just to give you a little glimpse in;
It's about a young woman whose father was a fisherman. Shrimps and crabs. A monster of an alligator gets caught in the net and he tries to cut in free. He doesn't survive. So his daughter Pearl learns how to hunt gators and is going to hunt said beast down, and put a tag in its tail. It's identified by a the broken off blade of her dad's knife still stuck in its hide.
She hunts alone. The women on the island where she harbors in winter think she's nuts and gossip about her. The sheriff wants her out of there because he is afraid she'll get killed on his watch. There's a drunkn' "Swamp Rat" that has "other ideas" for her. She also has two serious suitors in pursuit of her affections.
If only she could just get that gator and move on with her life! LOL
So all that to say this. I'm stuck on a title. I have it down to three:
Pearl of Maiden Island
Romancing of a Gator Hunter
Heart of the Swamp.
Is there one you like? Have another idea? Please let me know in the comments below! Thanks!
