i have a roleplay idea i reallyreallyreallyyyy want to do with someone :D (i have very inconsistent replies though haha) the idea is based of a film i've watched and it has so much room for drama and heartbreak :) the film was a k-drama set in joseon dynasty, however we can also decide on another timeperiod, that's up to you :D it starts with two young boys, in their early teens, one is the only son and heir of a high standing, wealthy official. the man is awfully harsh though, both on his son and his slaves/servants. he is feared by all thos who serve him and his son feels very intimidated by him as well. The poor kid doesn't live up to his father's standards, however the man cannot physically punish his son. he cannot have his heir covered in scars, which is where the other boy comes in. the wealthy official bought a boy his sons age to take his punishments for him, hoping seeing someone get hurt in his stead will motivate his son to do better as well. and so it goes that the slave boy follows his young master around like a shadow. during the boy's lectures, whenever he gave a wrong answer, the slave boy got beaten in his stead. whenever he missed a hit or dodge in material arts training, the slave boy would get hit in his stead naturally, the official's son felt incredibly guitly and started to secretly bring the other food and water during the night. the two would grow closer, and the aristocrat's son would realise the other boy actually excelled in all he could not do. given the boy had been born free, he could read and was fairly good at literature and even more so he was splendid in material arts. so, they agreed to practice at night. that way, the slave boy hoped his young master would mess up less so he wouldn't get beaten as much and the noble boy hoped to finally make his father proud. (we'd roleplay this for a little while and then do a tiny timeskip) 1/?

when they're both in their late teens, the boys father finally catches up on the slave boy teaching his son, however, he notices he is actually improving so instead of punishing the slave he assigns him to teach his son instead. so it is that the slave boy officially becomes his young master's mentor in literature and material arts. the two become even closer, however their relationship is very complicated (room for drama in our roleplay :)) because of social hierarchy. the official doesn't approve of his son treating a slave like a friend or equal and definitely doesn't approve of their friendship. as they get older it leads to confusing feelings for both of them (we could then timeskip to even later when they are both in their twenties, the noble boy has taken his exams and got a government position to, leading to him taking his position and social hierarchy more serious, while he also severely struggles with his feelings of friendship for his childhood friend 2/2
