My English teacher has assigned us many, MANY stories to read and annotate and carefully analyze and all that bullshit so far in his class, and I haven’t seen a single character that isn’t misogynistic, cisgender, or heterosexual. I can’t even think of a story that we’ve read that has a female protagonist. They’re all so painfully heteronormative, it’s literally sickening.
I hate this so much. There is no representation or diversity ANYWHERE. It’s really hard to be interested in a story or even appreciate it at all when every character is the same. It’s even harder when you can’t fucking identify with or relate to any of the characters because of this.
