Sometimes a piece of news stops you in the middle of your day and makes you think about life a little more deeply.
Today I read about Harish Rana being admitted to AIIMS after asking for assisted dying (ending life to relieve suffering). I do not know him personally, yet it is impossible not to feel the weight of a moment like this. When a human being reaches a point where living feels heavier than dying, it says something profound about the kind of pain they must have been carrying.
We often see headlines, debates, and opinions… but behind all of that is a real person, a real heart, and a life that once held dreams, hopes, and ordinary moments just like ours.
This moment reminds me how fragile the human mind and heart can be, and how quietly people can suffer while the world continues as usual around them. Mental pain is often invisible, yet it can be stronger than anything we see.
I truly hope he finds peace, dignity, and care in whatever lies ahead for him. And I hope we, as a society, learn to listen a little more, judge a little less, and offer compassion a little sooner.
Because sometimes, the greatest kindness we can give another person is simply making them feel that their pain is seen and their life matters.
Please remember that your life is precious. If you ever feel overwhelmed, don’t carry that pain alone — talk to someone you trust. There are people who care about you more than you realize.
Take care of your hearts, and take care of each other.
