If I released a random chapter from a fanfic I'm halfway through writing for you to beta read, how many of you would actually be interested in reading it?
Also, how much context would you need for that random chapter?
@K-A-Y-V-A Yeah, I'm not hugely bothered on feedback for worldbuilding nor story. I'm more interested in the writing style as I'm trying to keep it as close to the original novel as possible in terms of style of writing if that makes sense. Basically, instead of writing how most people write fanfics, I've tried to write it as if it was an actual book. Still though, I'll probably add some context for people, just to help them understand it slightly more. I'll most likely release the chapter later on today so look out for the announcement I guess.

If you only want feedback on the writing style, there isn’t a need for context. But if you want feedback on the story, a blurb or something would work. Still though it’s your story, if it was my story I would not care about feedback on the plot or worldbuilding.

Sorry for keeping you all waiting but I'm afraid that's just going to be the new norm from now on: though technically I've still kept my promise of posting at least one chapter per month so you can't be too mad with me!

I have an idea of a completely original book and I think one day I'll actually try to write it.
Maybe it'll even get published.

I've just written a chapter of a fanfic and I'm so proud of that chapter, I don't know what it is but I love it. I was proud of the last few chapters as well.
I think I'm starting to enjoy my own writing.
It just came so easy to me as well. I felt like I barely had to think about it. I just started writing and it worked.
I wish Wattpad allowed us to have beta readers or something so that we could gauge how good our chapters/books are before we publish them.
@FinoBtw Yeah I think it's a bit awkward publishing and unpublishing chapters like that but we'll see. It's for a fanfic that I wanted to fully finish before beginning to publish so yeah, I'm sure I'll figure something out.
@K-A-Y-V-A I do try to wait a few days before editing chapters so that I can find things to change easier. The problem is, I'm currently working on a fanfic that I was hoping to finish completely before publishing any of it so I can't really ask for feedback for the next chapters. I'll probably just send the chapters to a few people and see what they think of it.
@__J__A__K__E__ You can just ask people if they want to give feedback, the worst they can say is no. Or publish it as a final thing, and ask for feedback that you can use in the next chapter. Or be your own editor. Leave the chapter for a few days, then come back to it—guarantee you’ll find things to edit that you didn’t find before.
I have a genuine question for all of you.
When looking for a fanfiction to read, are you more likely to click on an 'xreader' fanfic, or an 'xoriginalcharacter' fanfic?
And why?
I'm desperate to know because I'm planning a fanfic and want people's opinions on what would work best.
@Dovahkiin103 Yeah it's safe to say that I'm definitely going with an OC for that fanfic as I also agree
Personally I prefer OC as opposed to xreader stories. It just makes the character feel as though they are apart of the world, instead of it being a self insert
@K-A-Y-V-A Yeah I've already gone through and changed out the character to an OC, luckily it wasn't too difficult as I hadn't written much and already the writing just feels better if that makes any sense. I think deep down I just needed someone to tell me that my idea to change the reader to an OC was the correct thing to do.
Was very confused today when I looked at my notifications and saw I had a message from the official Wattpad account lol.
Turns out I just won a month of Wattpad Premium for logging into my account this month (didn't even know that was a thing that could happen) but yeah for a split second I was feeling all sorts of emotions.
