“Your death is not an end but a beginning. Not a wall, but a door. Not an exit, but an entrance.” From Gentle and Lowly, by Dane Ortlund.
Heaven is infinitely more than a not-hell. If hell will be terrifying and excruciatingly painful for all eternity, then heaven will be lovely and unspeakably wonderful for all eternity.
In just a moment, our lives on earth won't even exist. In a few generations, no one will remember us. Our marriages and travels and connections and careers will be utterly meaningless. We will be known by ourselves and God alone.
Where will be known makes all the difference for our souls.
I assure you, it won't be worth it to pursue your heart's desire in this world only to come up empty every single time, and then at the end of your life to get a glimpse of the One your heart truly desires – only to discover that you will never have him, for all eternity.
