Dear Bankstories,
I hope this message finds you well! My name is Xiaoyu Zhou, and I am a research assistant at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. I am reaching out to kindly request your permission to include your works in an annotation corpus of our research project titled “Graphs and Ontologies for Literary Evolution Models” (GOLEM)(https://golemlab.eu/).
The GOLEM project is a 5-year (2023–2027) research initiative funded by the European Commission (ERC Starting Grant) and led by Dr. Federico Pianzola (https://federicopianzola.me/about/). We aim to model how cultural traits in fiction spread and evolve by analyzing (fan)fiction stories in six languages (English, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Indonesian). We plan to annotate works with key entities (e.g., characters, events, fandoms) and train computational models to explore what readers value in a story, what elements drive its popularity across languages, etc., which could also benefit (fan)fiction writers and platforms. Therefore, we are building a corpus for further annotation and analysis.
Your work displays rich narrative traits and engaging plots, and we hope to include your work into our annotation corpus. Our research fully complies with privacy regulations and ensures that personal information is never disclosed. If you are interested, please feel free to DM or email me at xiaoyuzhougolem@gmail.com!
Kind regards,
Xiaoyu Zhou
