@Three_chains well I do the same thing. She is most likely cutting because that's also my excuse 'it was the cat' and i wear a lot of bracelets. the best thing to do is talk to her about it, tell her that you already know she's cutting and be there for her, don't tell the guidance counselor or anyone else because people who cut don't want other people to know, people think we do it for attention and they don't really understand why we do it but its relief. Try to understand her, don't judge her, just be there for her, hug her tell her that no matter what she is going through you're always going to be there (I hope you will). And about the eating you should encourage her to eat more even if its a little bit a day it's a start.

Hey so I read ur bio thingy, whatever it's called, and you said you like to help people? I have a really good friend who has seemed sort of, sad lately. Her smile doesn't reach her eyes, and it's kinda depressing. Her life's not going so well at the moment and, a few months ago I saw two small horizontal cuts on her wrist. She laughed it off when I asked her about it, saying "oh it was my neighbor's cat" but didn't talk to me for the rest of the day. Over the past few months I've noticed more and more small marks, and it's really scaring me because they're only on her right wrist and she's left handed and she always wears tons of bracelets, and the other week she had a huge bandaid on her wrist and she came to school without it on later and there was a huge scar. I don't really know if she's cutting, but I know her cousin was suicidal (she's recovering from depression). But if she were to be cutting, what do I do? I don't want her to get in too deep, but I don't want to ask her and her freak out on me. My school is a private school and they sometimes step in to stop issues like bullying and whatever, but idk if I should ask the guidance counselor. I figured I'd ask somebody whose been in a similar situation before?
