This is just something I really want to have a discussion about with someone.
A woman’s virginity or idea of purity is so over-sexualized on this app.
Girl, never had first kiss, boyfriend, virgin, meets guy they argue/dislike each other, someone flirts first, some one who likes one of them tries to cause drama, girl and guy kiss, (they either go back and forth about their feelings after this or before kissing)and she “melts into the kiss” and blah blah blah they get married and have kids.
I just named the basic character plot for like 50% of the books on this app. This is a app for creativity yet so many of these books are the same. I can type in one word in the search bar and at least 7 similar books with the same title/plot/story comes up. This is literally the definition of “in your own words...” and it annoys the fuck out of me.
I can understand how a woman can be a virgin from 18-26 etc etc but for the parental backgrounds yall give the characters does not fit with the psychological development/pattern the character/ an actual person would take. It’s often we adapt to the environment around us subconsciously and it’s really unrealistic for these girls to be “independent, strong, rebellious, sassy, pretty, nice etc etc” and not have had a boyfriend before. BUT LOW AND BEHOLD...here comes this dude who’s about to drag her into a very toxic relationship with no communication or boundaries.
And these be coming from the authors who “want to make the character seem real” like...then through in some facts someone could relate to. Why is every huge book have a white girl with brown/blue/green eyes. Throw in some flavor or some diversity. And before y’all say I AM NOT GONNA CHECK THE URBAN SECTION. That is so stereotypical.
In conclusion this app is white washed and very much fond of sexualizing toxic relationships and a woman’s purity.
That’s all imma say about the topic.
