I am going to try to reach out to Wattpad directly to see if we can look into why their platform is so dismissive of sensitive content. If they refuse to restrict mature content properly to ensure 13-year-olds are not able to read books where the main character (or other) is assaulted by the "love interest" in the book. While a 19-year-old may be able to understand the complex storyline where the issue is properly investigated and addressed, unfortunately, children just do not have the capacity to comprehend that type of material; especially unmonitored and unsupervised with a knowledgable adult who could potentially explain the ideas better to the young reader. I very much doubt any of us were reading Wattpad with our parents when we were 14 so you must understand why I believe it would be better for material that contains sensitive content should be restricted better. Because many time when reading those books, while we acknowledge the had for what it is, children who are incapable of understanding why that is wrong yet will be seen defending the heinous actions and making obscene comments that are not only promoting a wrong mindset (no, raape apologist is not an opinion you can have) but also making the platform an unsafe place for readers who may be extra sensitive to those topics. Ultimately, we cannot control what type of story somebody chooses to share, we should simply ensure it is being shared in the proper light. This is where an author's responsibility comes in. If I want to create a character who sluut shames, I can. Because unfortunately, those people do exist in the real world. However, I also now have a moral responsibility to ensure I condemn that behavior, either through a story arc or a dialogue between characters because otherwise, I would be promoting that to my audience by glorifying it instead of informing my audience by exploring it.

@_moyna_ thanks again for spitting out the actual facts about wattpad. Rape, abuse, harasments, patriarchy have always been a common topic in every platform, whether it be books, movies, or dramas. Before getting exposed in wattpad world, i used to watch international dramas and boy was it filled with rape and violence, and at that time I used to think that these behaviours are very normal, i used to curse the female leads for not forgiving the said love interest male lead. But as I grew up and slowly started to read books in wattpad, the wheels in my brain churned a lot whenever I came across such toxic books. Thankfully, i had it in me to comprehend by myself that this is wrong. And honestly, when I came to full realisation of this whole demeanor of wattpad, it worried me for all the young girls out there who read such contents and probably got the idea that such toxic behaviours are LOVE and normal just like how I once used to think, except there is a huge chance their mind wont evolve and change like mine did. Not only that, but also, if you guys scroll through the comment sections in wattpad, you will see hundreds of girls excusing the male lead's abusive behaviour because he is portrayed as a hot dude. I came across so many of such categories books on wattpad, and everytime one thought always crossed my mind is, how do author's, being a girl themselves, bring themselves to write such books, do they perhaps have such sick fantasies for themselves or what? I have always reported them , but unfortunately i got very little positive response from wattpad's side.

@_moyna_ omg I really have seen these 12 year olds, and I really do worry about how these things are affecting them. The abusive nature of the 'true love' or the 'knight in shining armour' is completely overlooked because he 'loves' her. It's not okay that they can read these things and defend that behavior. It is quite literally poisoning their perception of an intimate relationship! Thank you so much for this. Both authors and @Wattpad needs to take some form of responsibility for the easy accessibility and wrong delivery of this content

Girllllll your bio is fucking awesome. I agree with each line.

Hey,it would really be if someone replies to this. The story, over which there was so much debate in Dec, 2020 about some rape thing, is it written by the same author who wrote The mischievous Mrs. Maxfield? Please tell me!!!! She is actually a very good author and TMMM is a book that had a very strong female lead. I just needed to know if it is the same author.
adrija04
@adrija04 which one? The controversial one was deleted by the author if I'm not wrong. And the other one is still there. It's called "Virtue and Vice"
